United
States Virgin Islands (USVI) History and Culture is a collection
of archival, library, and museum materials documenting Virgin Islands'
heritage and social life and customs. The materials in this collection
were selected from a group of items digitized as part of a National
Leadership grant entitled Digitization for Access and
Preservation, from the Institute of Museum and Library
Services (IMLS) to the University of the Virgin Islands Libraries
in partnership with the Virgin Islands Division of Libraries, Archives
and Museums.
The
collection includes funeral/memorial booklets, Project Introspection
material (articles documenting Virgin Islands history and culture),
research reports, newspaper commentaries and historical photographs.
Materials were drawn from the collections of the University of the
Virgin Islands, the Division of Libraries, Archives and Museums,
and the Virgin Islands Department of Education.
