Florida’s nineteenth-century
was overshadowed by the annual threat of Yellow Fever. Studies
of this disease led to quarantines, the discovery of air-conditioning,
and similar health care innovations. In the twentieth-century,
health care has been predominantly a question of how to
reach rural communities and meet the growing demand in the
areas of aged health care.
The medical care received by Floridians throughout the
years has had a strong impact on the life and well-being
of Florida's population. The Florida Heritage Collection
contains works about medical facilities and resources,
as well as how medical services and programs have effected
the health of the population of Florida. The advances and
contributions made in medical care have promoted wellness
and the betterment of health in Florida.
