1. Launch Adobe Photoshop CS
2. Open the TIFF image you with to compress into a JPEG2000.
3. Select ‘Save As…’ from the ‘File’
Menu
4. Under format, change format to JPEG2000.
5. The default extension for JPEG2000 format in Adobe is
‘.jpf’.
This should be changed to ‘.jp2’.
5. Click ‘Save’. This will bring up the JPEG2000
window.
6. Confirm the following settings:
- Include Metadata should be checked.
- Include Color Settings should be checked
- JP2 Compatible should be checked and greyed out.
- Quality should be set to the standard (10% to 15%).
7. Click on Advanced Options to confirm
additional settings:
- XMP
should
be
unchecked
unless
data
is
being
saved
with
the
FileInfo
feature
of
Photoshop
- EXIF should be checked
- Wavelet Filter should be Float
- Tile Size should be set to 1024 x 1024.
- ICC Profile should be included.
8.
Once
all
settings
are
confirmed,
click
OK
on
the
JPEG2000
window
to
create
the
file.
NOTE:
It
is
recommended
that
this
process
be
automated
by
creating
an
Action
and
running
a
batch
against
a
folder
or
collection
of
folders,
or
by
using
an
application
which
employs
scripting.
